As far as it depends on me

Forgiveness · Romans 12:18; read Romans 12:9–21 for context

Adapted from Day 22 of A Merry Heart, A Happy Home by Serena Mojela. Teaching and prompts are condensed for this website.

Read and reflect

Read the Scripture passages listed above in your Bible, including the surrounding verses for context. Then take a moment with these thoughts.

When you are working through hurt, Day 22 offers a useful starting point: peace involves more than one person. You can apologise for your part, speak respectfully, and refuse needless provocation. You cannot force another person to respond well. Serena is clear that peace does not require ignoring danger or accepting abuse.

A question to sit with

What is genuinely within your control? What response belongs to someone else? What would a peaceful and truthful next step look like?

A step for today

Draw a circle. Inside, write the choices that belong to you: your tone, honesty, prayer, and boundaries. Outside, write what belongs to others. Give your attention to your part today.

Take this with you

I am responsible for my part, not every outcome.

From the devotional’s “Take this with you” section. This is Serena’s reflection, not a Bible quotation.

Keep growing with care

These reflections offer spiritual encouragement. They do not replace individualized medical, mental health, legal, or pastoral care. Wise boundaries and appropriate support matter.
